Directions :
The village of Writtle is situated just to the west of Chelmsford, between the A414 and the A1060.
From the A12
For those coming via the A12, even from the North East, we would suggest that you come off at Junction 15 to the south of Chelmsford. This will enable you to avoid any congestion in Chelmsford town centre. From the J15 roundabout, take the A414 to Chelmsford along a dual carriageway. At the end of the dual carriageway, take a LEFT at the roundabout along the A414 Greenbury Way now signposted to the M11 and Harlow.
Follow the A414 for about 2 miles, straight over the first roundabout, then take a RIGHT at the second roundabout towards Writtle village. After 100m take a RIGHT again, along Ongar Road and continue through the village as Ongar Road becomes Lordship Road. You will pass a filling station on your right and then start to see Writtle College buildings on both sides of the road. Fox Burrows Lane is on your RIGHT, almost directly opposite the main entrance to Writtle College. Continue along to the end of Fox Burrows Lane where it opens out into the car park.
From A414 West
Coming from the direction of Ongar, you will pass a garden centre on your RIGHT just before you reach the "second roundabout" referred to above. Take a LEFT at this roundabout, then a RIGHT at the next along Ongar Road, and pick up the directions as above.
From A1060 West
Coming from Bishop's Stortford direction, you will come to a mini-roundabout where you take a RIGHT towards Writtle village. This is the north end of Lordship Road, so continue down Lordship Road over the narrow bridge and past Writtle College on your RIGHT. Fox Burrows Lane is on your LEFT.
