history
Writtle Wanderers RUFC is one of the youngest rugby clubs in
England, having only formed in the summer of 2002. However, in just five
seasons we have become a real force in Essex Rugby and, having secured back to back
promotions in our first two seasons of league rugby, 2006-7 saw us hold our own
in Essex 1 and only narrow miss out on a top three finish. We have also
built up a successful 2nd XV who, whilst playing hard on the field, consider the
social side of the game equally important!
This coming season, as well as
putting in a strong challenge for the Essex 1 title and fielding a competitive
2nd XV in the BL Merit Table, we would also like to increase the number of 3rd/Veterans XV
games! New players are always welcomed
and we have many players who have joined us in the last couple of seasons
specifically because of our unique blend of good rugby and excellent social
life!
So, whether you are a budding Jonny Wilkinson looking for
your big break, or a seasoned prop forward who would just like to have the
occasional game, we would be delighted to hear from you! We have use of superb
facilities at Writtle College and place much importance on welcoming along new
players and their families into our friendly social setup.
